Overshot - medallions

Beginning Overshot with a creative use course

Do you admire overshot designs - but aren’t sure how the blocks are put together or even what is a block?! In this three session class, you’ll weave a motif to use in all sorts of creative ways. And by setting up the loom with the end goal in mind, you can make multiples, simultaneously!

Need a bunch of small gifts for the holidays? Here’s one option to save lots of time by creating different items with the same fabric. Christmas cards, cosmetic bags, eyeglass cases, lavender sachets, business card holders, purse flaps - oh the things you can create!

Thursday, October 24, 7pm - 8pm, on Zoom - answer weaving questions and design options

Sunday, November 3, 2pm to 5pm - weaving completed and sewing ideas and tips with hands-on application

Stainless steel pot containing glass canning jars of various colors of dyes

Come Find the Sun: Natural Dye Exploration Day

A fun afternoon class teaching the essence of natural dyes - through trial and error!

Course cost: $40

Jennifer will provide 1/2 yard cotton muslin prepared fabrics for your experiments. Dyepots will be ready for your exploration into color! We will use marigold, cochineal, weld, osage, madder and indigo to achieve (hopefully!) yellows, oranges, blues and purples. Fiber will be pre-scoured and mordanted for our immediate use.

Students should bring: apron, rubber gloves, empty clean jars with lids (to take home exhaust bath dyes), pencil for notetaking and a sense of fun! Don’t wear your favorite shoes to class either - in case the dye migrates.

This class is fantastic fun for small groups! Contact Jennifer at FiberMakerStudio@gmail.com to sign up.

Beginning Band Weaving

A fun 2 hour class teaching the essence of weaving bands to make a bookmark or a key fob

Course cost: $30, all materials provided

Jennifer will provide pre-warped looms with cotton threads for students to create their own bookmark or key fob.

Looms are available to purchase for $65. Loom use in class is free.

NOTE: For any weaver younger than 16, Jennifer appreciates parental involvement.  A parent who also weaves is considered a student and pay for materials accordingly.  The parent who is only assisting their child would not be considered a student and therefore won't be charged.

Join Jennifer on Zoom as she explores the variety of effects of color and weave.

Day 1, on Zoom: Overview of color and weave (hint: it’s plain weave or twill but with color added). Homework for the following class on May 20 will be to select 2 choices of color-ways you desire to put on a loom. If you have the fibers at hand, complete a card wrapping or a colored graph drawing.

Day 3, on Zoom and/or in studio: Show and Tell night! Can’t make it in studio? You can Zoom with those gathered in the studio - but photos of your work are required so we can ‘ohhh’ and ‘ahhhh’ with your piece too!
